Details about the Great Book Race

This year the Great Book Race will be held Thursday, December 5. 

Times: GC Students will leave right after school, the contest usually starts at 5:00 p.m. The contest is held at West Middlesex Jr./Sr. High School.  Our bus will return to GCMS about 9 p.m. You will have an opportunity to purchase pizza, salads, subs, and so on there for dinner.

There is no cost to participate.  However, we usually come up with a Team T-Shirt and if you want to have one, you will need to pay for that yourself (usually about $10).



Last Year's GCMS Team won FIRST Place!

On November 29, 2012, students from Grove City Area Middle and High Schools competed in the “The Great Book Race”, an annual reading competition for area schools held at West Middlesex Area High School. And our Grove City Middle School team, Lord of the Books, took first place in the Junior Division. Team members were: Rebecca Aloisio, Joe Coulter, Jillian Kohr, Hayley McGuigan, Jayson Reppart, Andrew Robinson, Danielle Shriver, Kaycee Shumaker, Karli Sutton, Lily Dunn, and Bethany Hawke.  Team advisors were: Mrs. Jamie Scott, and Mrs. Amy Walter.

Great Book Race, Junior Division, is open to any 7th or 8th grader (2013-2014 school year).  Listen for announcements next September, and come to a meeting.  Everyone is welcome to attend a meeting or two in order to decide if you want to participate.

If you know you want to participate.... START READING.  Most of the books are already in the Middle School LMC, the others will be purchased soon. And, many are available at the GC Community Library.
